COUNTED ACROSS FORMULAS
Ashwagandha
Chronic cortisol, Low testosterone and Daily athletic each carry 600 mg of ashwagandha. Our library puts an informal safety ceiling of 600 mg a day on it, so any of them next to the 300 mg here would pass it. The engine adds up your ashwagandha across every formula you take and blocks a new one once the total reaches 1,200 mg a day, or once you have taken it for 90 days without a break. That blocking threshold sits above the informal 600 mg ceiling, so 300 mg here plus 600 mg elsewhere would not be stopped automatically. Our library also flags ashwagandha and rhodiola in the same dose as a timing precaution, one being activating and the other calming, and the record says to split them between morning and night rather than combine them. This formula does combine them, at the low end of both doses. That is one of the points its clinical review has to settle.
COUNTED TOGETHER
Magnesium and vitamin B6
Nine other VION formulas carry magnesium, from 100 to 200 mg. Any one of them on the same day as this one would pass the 250 mg upper limit for supplemental magnesium, so the engine will not add it. B6 is in five other formulas and is counted the same way, against 12 mg a day.
TALK TO A DOCTOR FIRST
Not for everyone
Do not take it if you have liver disease or raised liver enzymes, a thyroid disorder (including an overactive thyroid or Graves' disease), hyperandrogenism, heart disease, an autoimmune condition, advanced kidney disease or myasthenia gravis (high doses of magnesium can worsen muscle weakness); if you are pregnant, breastfeeding or under 18; if you have bipolar disorder; if you take levodopa for Parkinson's without carbidopa, because the B6 in this formula lowers how well it works; or if you take sedatives such as benzodiazepines, psychiatric medication (especially SSRIs), immunosuppressants, or drugs that can harm the liver such as paracetamol, isoniazid or methotrexate. Ashwagandha also adds to the sedative effect of alcohol, as it does with sedatives. Stop it at any sign of liver trouble: yellowing skin, unusual tiredness, abdominal pain. Ask a doctor first if you have a heart rhythm problem or heart block, high blood pressure, peripheral neuropathy, polycythaemia vera, histamine intolerance or cancer; if you have surgery planned (stop 2 weeks before); or if you take other antidepressants (SNRIs, MAOIs), stimulants such as caffeine or synephrine, thyroid hormone (keep magnesium 4 hours away from levothyroxine), anticoagulants, diabetes or blood pressure medication, calcium-channel blockers, diuretics, digoxin, cycloserine, isoniazid, anticonvulsants, hydralazine, penicillamine, oral contraceptives or theophylline (all four lower your B6), chloramphenicol or colchicine (both lower your B12), bisphosphonates or tetracyclines (keep them at least 2 hours away from the magnesium), quinolone antibiotics (take those 2 hours before the magnesium or 4 to 6 hours after it), aminoglycoside antibiotics or amphotericin B (both increase the magnesium you lose through the kidneys), muscle relaxants, cancer treatment, or long-term metformin, PPIs or H2 blockers. Tell your anaesthetist about the B12 before any surgery using nitrous oxide, which inactivates it. Rhodiola also affects the CYP2C9 and CYP3A4 enzymes in laboratory work, so mention it if you take several medicines at once. This is what our library documents for these six ingredients, not a complete list of every drug they could interact with: each ingredient has its own page with the full record. Contains soy unless the label says otherwise. Do not exceed the daily dose, keep out of reach of young children, and do not use it in place of a varied, balanced diet. The app asks before it ever assigns this one.
